Your 3-Day Moroccan Desert Adventure Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech- High Atlas Mountains- Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah- Dades Valley

Your 3 day desert trip from Marrakech begins with an early morning departure at 8:30 AM. Leave Marrakech behind and drive through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass with breathtaking views along the way.

Continue toward the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its ancient earthen architecture and discover the fascinating history of this remarkable fortified village, famously featured in numerous films and TV productions.

After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, continue through the stunning landscapes of southern Morocco toward the Skoura Oasis, a lush green haven filled with palm trees, olive groves, almond trees, and fruit orchards.

From Skoura, travel through the picturesque Valley of Roses and pass through Kelaat M’Gouna, known for its fragrant roses and locally produced beauty products. Take in the changing landscapes as you make your way into the dramatic Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night in a welcoming local guesthouse.

Day 2Dades Valley- Todra Gorge- Sahara Desert, Merzouga

After breakfast, set off on an unforgettable journey through the dramatic Dades Valley, where the road winds its way through spectacular mountain landscapes and exhilarating hairpin bends – an experience worthy of its own road-trip movie.

Pause at the magnificent Dades Gorges to stretch your legs, take in the panoramic views, and admire the rugged beauty of the surrounding cliffs. Continue onwards to the impressive Toudgha Gorges, where a completely different landscape awaits.

From Toudgha, your journey continues toward the Sahara, passing through the scenic Ziz Valley and Erfoud, renowned for its fascinating fossils and beautifully polished stone artifacts.

In the afternoon, the adventure truly begins. Meet your camels at the edge of the desert and embark on an approximately 1-hour camel ride across the golden dunes to your luxury desert camp.

On arrival, relax with traditional Moroccan tea and biscuits, then climb the nearby dunes to witness the breathtaking Sahara sunset as the landscape transforms into a sea of golden and orange hues.

As evening falls, enjoy a delicious dinner before settling in for a magical night beneath the desert sky. Your luxury camp features a private bathroom, comfortable king-size beds, elegant Moroccan furnishings, and beautifully arranged lamps, creating an intimate atmospheric setting that perfectly complements the surrounding dunes.

Day 3Merzouga to Marrakech

Rise early – you’ll be glad you did. Climb the dunes as the first rays of sunlight appear over the Sahara, bathing the endless golden sands in warm, magical colors. It’s a peaceful and unforgettable way to begin your final morning in the desert.

After breakfast at camp, bid farewell to the dunes and begin your journey back to Marrakech. Sit back and enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the Sahara behind, traveling through the dramatic landscapes and Berber villages of southern Morocco.

The road gradually leads you back towards the High Atlas Mountains, offering plenty of spectacular views along the way. As you cross the mountains and descend towards the Red City, the landscapes transform once again – from rugged desert and mountain scenery to the vibrant surroundings of Marrakech.
